During an official visit to the People’s Republic of China conducted by a delegation from the Ministry of Equipment and Water, École Hassania des Travaux Publics (EHTP) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on October 25th , 2024, in Zhangjiagang, China, with Jiangsu Guofu Hydrogen Energy Equipment Co., Ltd. (Guofuhee) and its African joint venture Go For Hydrogen Africa (GFHA).
This agreement aims to establish a Joint Center of Excellence in Clean Hydrogen on the EHTP campus in Casablanca. The center, as a strategic initiative, was designed to advance Training, capacity building and research, development (R&D), in clean hydrogen technologies at EHTP and thus positioning this academic joint center as a driving force in clean hydrogen innovation and transformation in Morroco.
The Joint Center of Excellence in Clean Hydrogen will serve as a key hub for innovation, providing EHTP’ students with access to advanced hydrogen technology and research opportunities.
By combining the expertise of GFHA, Guofuhee, and EHTP, this partnership will develop local research capabilities and train highly qualified engineers in this strategic field.
The center will be equipped with a containerized hydrogen generation system integrated into a 10 kW cogeneration unit (CHP) with a hydrogen storage system provided by Guofuhee via GFHA. This system will use solar energy to produce hydrogen which will then be used to generate electricity powering EHTP’s infrastructure.
Students will have a temunduos opportunity to learn across the entire hydrogen value chain at Guofuhee, including its state-of-the-art 2.5 GW electrolyzer smart production line, the largest multidisciplinary hydrogen testing center in the world, its R&D center and real-world hydrogen projects. As the market of Hydrogen in Morocco grows and news equipment factories begin operating, these engineers will be well-prepared to start working immediately and to contribute to Morocco’s economic growth.
GFHA and Guofuhee will provide renowned professors and experts to contribute to EHTP’s training program. Annual workshops will be organized offering advanced practical training for EHTP students. Joint events such as conferences and seminars will be organized to promote clean hydrogen in Morocco and in Africa. Study visits to China will also be offered to EHTP professors and students.

At the end of the signing ceremony, site visits were conducted at the Guofuhee company and another facility of HuaDeHydrogen company which specializes in hydrogen fuel cell systems and integrated solutions for energy storage and distributed power.
This big milestone also marks a significant advancement for the CleanTech Business Club’s the-one-of-a kind #TogetherWeAreStronger initiative, supporting Morocco’s adventure towards its leadership in the clean hydrogen sector on the African continent.
